Bioinformatics Software Developer – Bioinformatics R&DI work as a Bioinformatics Software Developer on the Bioinformatics R&D team. Our key tasks are to develop and maintain the automated bioinformatics pipeline for sequencing data analysis. Our day-to-day work varies—it can include proof-of-concept studies for new features, Python programming, test automation, containerization, and cloud-based solutions, as well as pipeline release validations fulfilling medical device regulations.
I have a background in molecular and food microbiology and have worked on different research projects in bacterial genetics. During my PhD at Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, I specialized in high-throughput DNA sequencing, specifically mouse mitochondrial DNA sequencing and variant calling. I conducted my projects from lab work to automated bioinformatic data analyses. As fun as lab work is, I decided bioinformatics and programming are more interesting.
I enjoy working at Blueprint Genetics because of the meaningful projects we do and the great atmosphere we have. The work is challenging and there are opportunities to focus on other scientific research topics as well. There is something new to learn and accomplish every day. Most importantly, here you are surrounded by collaborative and brilliant colleagues who work together towards our common goals.
