Genetic Services Consultant – Sales

I am Blueprint’s Genetic Services Consultant for the US’s Mid-Atlantic region and have been with the company since August 2017. In my role, I work directly with clinicians and their colleagues to help the genetic testing process move as smoothly as possible, with the ultimate aim of helping patients get the best diagnostic testing available.

I come to this role with a diversity of experience, spanning the fields of clinical medical genetics, business development, laboratory sales, and training management. I began my academic career in the field of cognitive neuroscience (BS Psychology/Biology, Pennsylvania State University 2002) before moving into genetics. I am a board-certified genetic counselor (MS, University of Utah 2008) with a broad range of clinical experience that includes prenatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations (Kaiser Permanente, InformedDNA). I have specialty experience in thrombophilias, hemoglobinopathies, cardiovascular genetics, oncology, and telemedicine.

In my first non-clinical role, I worked with the University of Pennsylvania’s Innovation Team to develop a service delivery model for Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center Telegenetics Clinic. After completion of that project, I switched gears by moving to the laboratory side of the business, which is where I’ve been since leaving Penn. As part of Quest Diagnostics’ inaugural field genetic counselor team, I provided clinical genetics support to clients and sales reps in the field for one year before being promoted to National Sales Training Manger. In that role, I was responsible for developing the clinical and business acumen of our molecular oncology sales team and served as a liaison between Medical Affairs, Sales, and the Oncology Franchise.

My favorite part about working for Blueprint is that there is an overwhelming commitment to quality and customer service that percolates through our entire team. As a former clinician, it’s reassuring to know that behind the scenes each sample is seen for what it truly represents – a patient and a family seeking answers to a medical mystery through genetic testing. Our team takes that responsibility very seriously and treats every case with rigorous and thorough investigation.
