I joined Blueprint Genetics in March of 2018, after making the decision to transition out of the clinic setting in my role as a prenatal genetic counselor. Although I loved being face-to-face with patients, and learned invaluable lessons during my 6+ years of clinical experience, I hoped to grow from new challenges. I sought to build upon my past experiences developing and implementing cardiac and whole exome sequencing genetic counseling programs. I was familiar with Blueprint Genetics and their testing options from the clinic, and I was excited about the prospect of working with a small lab whose technology I really admired.
At Blueprint, we collaborate as a team, and every member has a unique perspective which adds tremendous value to the company as a whole. Input from every avenue, from our genetic services consultants, to our clinical geneticists, to our customers, is appreciated, valued, and considered. There is a thoughtfulness in the development of new and existing products and the growth of our company which is refreshing to be a part of. Although I am no longer seeing patients day-to-day, I feel that I am still leaving my footprint in the rare inherited disease space. I know that my close partnership with our customers ultimately helps achieve more diagnoses for patients undergoing a diagnostic odyssey. I feel rewarded in a way I didn’t know I would upon leaving the clinic!
