Technical Specialist – IT operationsMy career training began in the U.S. Air Force as a Histology Specialist. My 4-year enlistment concluded at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA after training. I earned my civilian certification soon after, and worked as a histology technician, Mohs technician, and an IHC technician for many years in various environments. During that time, I developed a keen interest in computers and computer hardware. I began going to college for a degree in the IT field. While working and raising a family, I finished college with an AA in CIS and a BS in E-business. I applied for an opportunity to begin a career in the IT field and have been working in IT ever since. I quickly earned CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications and have expanded my role in IT to include some network and system administration.
At Blueprint Genetics I have taken on a “Jack-of-all-Trades” role to allow the IT Infrastructure team in Helsinki to have a more responsive presence in Seattle. I thoroughly enjoy working with the folks in Helsinki and the variety of tasks required in my position. The most enjoyable aspect of my position is working with so many good people, both at Blueprint Genetics, and PhenoPath, another Quest Diagnostics company.
